Job Summary:  Inspect buildings and sites for compliance with building, zoning, housing and property maintenance codes and ordinances; reviews building plans; and does related work as required.  Perform inspection of buildings under construction or alteration to determine and secure compliance with the municipal building code and zoning and housing ordinances with considerable technical independence.  Work involves plan review and examination.

Accountant II

Pay Grade: G12  

Employment Status: Full- Time

FLSA Status: Exempt

 

Job Summary:  Performs complex accounting work within the Finance Department related to Payroll to ensure timely and accurate payment for all the City’s payroll obligations. Performs other accounting functions as assigned.

 

Requirements:   Municipal government experience; Certified Public Accountant; 5 years of experience in payroll procedures, payroll taxes and accounting principles; Computer experience with Windows and other Microsoft Office products (Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint); NIMS (National Incident Management System) ICS-100 and FEMA IS-700 training. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Must pass pre-employment testing for substance abuse and criminal background. Possession and retention of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license issued by the State of Delaware is required.

 

Minimum Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; 5 years of progressively responsible experience in professional accounting, general ledger and payroll.

Electric Ground Technician

Pay Grade:  Ground Tech

Employment Status: Full-Time

FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

Job Summary: Responsible for keeping trucks stocked, digging and burying underground electric power lines/supply. Also, sets transformers, fixes and installs streetlights, and hauls equipment to and from job sites. The duties of the Electric Ground Technician are performed under the direction of a First Class Electric Line Technician and Management.

Requirements:  At least 1 year of experience working in general construction preferably in the electric utility field. Experience working with electric equipment and materials. CPR/AED/First Aid Certification. Environmental Oil Spill Training. NIMS (National Incident Management System) ICS-100, FEMA IS-700 training. Lineman School. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Possession and retention of a valid Delaware vehicle operator’s license and Class B CDL (Minimum) is required. Must pass pre-employment testing for substance abuse, criminal background, motor vehicle driver’s license history, and a pre-employment physical. Safety sensitive positions may be subject to random drug and alcohol testing according to City policy.

Parks & Recreation Supervisor

Job Summary:  To organize, implement, supervise, coordinate, staff, promote and evaluate assigned recreation programs.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree with a major in Parks and Recreation, Physical Education or a related field.  Possession of a valid Delaware driver’s license; CPR Certification; First Aid training; 2 years of increasingly responsible experience in recreation services, including supervisor experience.  Comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Must pass pre-employment testing for substance abuse and criminal background. Background re-check completed every 2 years. 

Knowledge:  Principles, rules, materials and equipment requirements in a variety of recreational activities; Rules and equipment of various sports; Philosophy and objectives of public recreation; First aid practices and techniques; Athletic and field maintenance, including marking and layout of sports fields, lawn fertilization and irrigation techniques.

Code Enforcement Official I

Pay Grade: G09

Job Summary:  Inspects buildings and sites for compliance with property maintenance, zoning and housing codes and ordinances.  Performs residential rental inspections.  Performs enforcement of applicable ordinances, codes and regulations related to zoning, land use, housing, health and safety, blight and other matters of public concern.  Serve as a resource and provides information on City regulations to property owners, residents, businesses, the general public and City departments.  Ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures.  Must pass pre-employment testing for substance abuse and criminal background. 

Requirements: Completion of standard high school course work or GED; 5 years of experience in general building construction with increasing responsibilities; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities.  Possession and retention of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license issued by the State of Delaware is required.  Upon Hire: Must possess or pass Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector, Certified Zoning Enforcement Officer, and Code Enforcement Administrator certifications through the American Association of Code Enforcement within 18months as a condition of employment.  

Knowledge:  Housing, property maintenance, building and zoning code and related ordinances of the City of Milford as well as familiarity with recorded site plans and land subdivision process; Materials, methods, and practices used in code enforcement; Personal computers and pertinent applications.
