The Patrol Division consists of four shifts of five officers each . A Sergeant serves in the capacity of supervising the shift and is assisted by a corporal assigned to each shift, as well as three patrolman. The Patrol Division is on a schedule of 12 hour shifts working 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off, 2 on and 2 off. These shifts rotate every two weeks from day work to night work from 0700-1900 and 1900 to 0700. Officers assigned to each shift are cross-trained in electronic surveillance, evidence collection, photography, accident investigation, bicycle and motorcycle patrol techniques and a variety of other special skills. Officers are also trained to make the community policing concept a focus when patrolling.
