Uniforms

Uniforms of the Milford Police Department: The Department supplies all uniforms and uniform accessories to its personnel. Officers assigned to the Patrol Unit wear grey pants and a long sleeved grey shirt in the winter months. The winter uniform may be worn with a black tie or turtleneck similar in color. Service stripes, indicating the officers number of years of service, are attached to the officers left sleeve for each three years of service. In the summer months the patrol officers wear short sleeved black shirts with the grey pants.

The uniform was designed by a committee of officers from the patrol division and was adopted in the fall of 1994. Previously the patrol officers wore light blue shirts with dark blue pockets and dark blue pants. That particular uniform had been worn since 1974.

The dress uniform (class A) is a black blouse and grey pants. The blouse has a high neck similar to that worn by the United States Marine Corps. The uniform is a cotton/wool blend to help keep the officers comfortable in a variety of temperature ranges.
