Patrol

Division Organization & Responsibilities
The Patrol Division consists of 4 shifts of 5 officers each. For each shift, a sergeant serves in the capacity of supervisor and is assisted by a corporal and 3 patrolman.

The division is on a schedule of 12-hour shifts working: 3 on, 2 off; 2 on, 3 off; and 2 on ,2 off. These shifts rotate every 2 weeks from day work (7 a.m. - 7 p.m.) to night work (7 p.m. - 7 a.m.). Officers assigned to each shift are cross-trained in:
  • Accident investigation
  • Bicycle and motorcycle patrol techniques
  • Electronic surveillance
  • Evidence collection
  • Photography
  • And a variety of other special skills
Officers are also trained to make the community policing concept a focus when patrolling.
